Headline: I'm 30minutes ride away from heaps of singletrack
Only 2.5 weeks after moving into our house in Stafford Heights, Brisbane, and I managed to find a morning to go take a morning ride to Bunyaville Forest. 30 minutes from home to the middle of 'Jinker Track' where Mtb Dirt tells me is a good place to start. Chicken ride down Jurassic (~6km/h) is a good reminder how long its been since i was offroad - not since Sydney, sometime in 2008 :(. Back up to the road, to see that the Creek Track beginings I was planning on doing look to be closed off, so I hurtle down the next firetrail, to find myself at the bottom, looking at an nice uphill singletrack, ZigZag?. back up to the road (yup, happily lost, never heard of Dugandan Rd), cross it to spot the entrance to MiniVan? - weeeee - now riding at a cool 8km/h :), eventually finding myself at Bunya Rd, and wondering which direction to go. Quick stop to eat a Bananana, wondering if 90minutes riding was too much in my rather unfit state - so I decide to ride towards home. Just as I make that decision, I pass Jinker track again, and spot another trailhead - mmm, '4'. Sprint down CreekTrack? at 17km/h - weeeeee (I assume i was too tired to be careful) til i come across a '5' - up Kokoda back to Collins Rd - at least i recognise that.. Ride the firetrail for a bit, hooning down Psycho (what a massive downhill and then steep up) to find '7' Steps which I realise after a few 100m's is too much, so i back out and ride the 30mins home again Brilliant! I'm guessing I linked up 5-6km's of singletrack totally suitable for my non-level of skill and stamina, 30mins from home. Thats a heck of a lot more than I had in Lane Cove, Sydney - where I had to ride out to Manly Dam and do loops :). 07 Jul 2010 - 06:25 I'm 30minutes ride away from heaps of singletrackHeadline: Old-school programming techniques you probably don't miss
wow. At 36, I didn't think I was old enough to be an old school programmer, but that computer world article only lists things I have done (er, other than the punch cards). I guess starting to program in school, when PC's were things like TRS-80's leads to having done some stuff
the Slashdot article has a few extra gems - no wonder 'programmers' have a bad reputation.

seeing as the TWiki project seems like its trying hard to close its own doors, by making dubious technical choices and marketing and capital funding based decisions, I've moved to the fork project fosiki. This Wiki is now a test system so I can continue to help make foswiki a strong release. I recon the funnest thing I added to foswiki in the last week, is a more advanced WebSearchAdvanced topic - not only can you try out query or regex searches, but it will also display theSEARCH command you need to embed that result into any topic you want.
15 Dec 2008 - 09:20 new install again - this time of foswikiHeadline: upgrading Home.org.au
I've upgraded home.org.au to TWiki's trunk (in preparation for fastcgi), and updated to the latest incarnation of MoveableTypeSkin? - WidgetsSkin. WidgetsSkin not only uses the latest incarnation of Moveable Type's HTML and CSS (and because they are now GPL open source, contains their themes, but begins to add more userfriendly Widget style mini-TWikiApps for use in the sidebars. Hopefully there won't be too many glitches along the way. 21 Oct 2008 - 09:08 upgrading Home.org.auHeadline: Day One of driving

After spending so much time in the shadows of the Uetliberg and Zuriberg, I've been missing being able to go for a quick easy offroad mountain bike ride. From Lane Cove, I've finally realised there's plenty around me - today for example, I rode to the EasternArterial? road entry of the Two Creeks Track which starts off as a fire trail, then changes into a nice easy, low traffic walking track - prefect for the beginner MTB rider. It seems to cope well with the wet day we had today too - buckets of fun from there to the Roseville bridge, and then an easy ride home. 04 Oct 2008 - 08:38 easy MTB trails in Northern SydneyHeadline: Pasta night
I love how 100g of flour and one egg can make the most wonderful pasta. Its such a simple thing to mix up before you make the sauce, then while its cooking, roll it out & cut (ok, i've got a pasta maker ) and boil.
loverly

I just rode my bike to the RTA, and got myself a Learner's booklet. Its an odd feeling, knowing nothing about the process, since the last time my friends looked at that sort of thing was over 15 years ago! Combine that with going to the printers to get my first set of Business cards made... Australian renewable paper please
and I get a very interesting day.
